Recently I have been listening to an album called 'Look Up Child' by Lauren Daigle. (If you haven't listened to it yet - you need to check it out!) The whole album is so well done and I love every song, but one of my favorite songs is called "Still Rolling Stones." I love everything from the beat of the music to the meaning behind the lyrics. I want to take a minute to talk about just one of the lines I'm constantly thinking of and singing in my head. And, I mean constantly. So much so that I'm currently writing this at 12 AM since I can't fall asleep because when I close my eyes all I do is think about this verse. The line goes:

"...the darkness should have known, You're still rolling stones..."

This is a reference to the stone being rolled back that was keeping Jesus in the tomb after he was crucified.

"There was a violent earthquake, for an angel of the Lord came down from heaven and, going to the tomb, rolled back the stone and sat on it." Matthew 28:2 (NIV)

I keep thinking about how this applies to current day and how He is still "rolling stones." I take this to mean that He is still doing what we would consider "impossible" because of our limited understanding of His power, love and beauty. How He is still performing miracles and pursuing us, drawing us closer to our Father. That He is not dead and gone, but, contrarily, alive and with us! I know it's easy to watch the news and get caught up in all the bad happenings of this world, but it's important to keep our eyes steadfast on Him and remember that the same God who had the power to raise Jesus from the dead is the same God we have today. He is still mighty. He is still powerful. He is still in control. He is still loving. He is "still rolling stones."

I feel like the Lord has been trying to speak to me through this reoccurring lyric. He's telling me - "I'm here! I'm with you. I am not distant." That is true for me and for you!

Sometimes I need to be reminded of this. Maybe you did too. Now, go listen to the song! I hope you like it as much as I do.

I absolutely love this post & it came at the perfect time, GODs appointed time, when I really needed it. I also was wonderin what she was referring to “Still Rolling Stones“. I have a TBI from the military and sometimes I can’t make sense of simple things. God is good all the time & all the time God is good. Amen. 🙏🏼
