If you're wondering what it is that I'm doing exactly and how I got to Italy you came to the right place. I'll explain it all...

How I got here:
This time last year, as I was sitting in my cubicle at your very typical office job planning other people's trips to far away places, I started to question what I wanted out of life. I started asking myself - "Is this it? Is this what life is all about? Wake up, work, eat, maybe see friends, repeat?" I thought about that for a long while and questioned if that was enough for me. Eventually I decided that what I wanted out of life, for now, was to see the world and form a better world view. I would have the rest of my life to work - now is the time to explore!
My Love of Travel:
If you know me you would know that I have always had a passion for travel. You would know that in high school I started my travel fund and that just talking about travelling will make my heart race because (1) I'm lame and (2) because I love even the idea of it so much. You would also know that I am not really spontaneous (although I'd love to be). I am a planner through and through. So, around March of 2018 I began praying and planning. For a while I was confused why the Lord would give me this strong desire to travel and not let me do anything with it. It didn't take long for me to hear the Lord and it was as if He was saying - "I'm not stopping you. Go for it." It was then that I started planning my "spontaneous" life decision and looking into being an Au Pair. I figured if it was meant to be the Lord would open doors and if not He wouldn't. I got on a few websites and began to dream of living in some far-off country. I did this for a few months - talking to families, researching countries to live in and starting a European Bucket-list. Time passed and nothing seemed to stick. Until one day... the Lord opened the door.
How I got the job:
I was on Instagram and saw a picture of a friend's friend posing with one of her friends (confused yet?) and the picture inferred that this girl was living in Europe, Italy specifically. I figured that connecting is what social media is for so I reached out and asked if her friend knew of any families looking for an Au Pair. As it turned out, the family of one of the girls in the picture was leaving was going to need someone to take her place. After a few FaceTime's with the family I guess I rubbed off on them and they invited me to come live with them.

Where I am now:
So, after a few months I made the move and I am now living in a quaint, iconic Italian town called Vicenza. My main purpose is to help teach the kids English and help take care of them. There are two boys who are 7 & 9 years old. They are the sweetest boys - smart, creative and as cute as can be.
All in all - I'm very excited. Excited to venture in to new places, experience different cultures, eat lots of pasta and drink good wine, as well as grow in reliance on the Lord and see His plan unfold.
If you've made it this far - THANK YOU! It means a lot to me that you'd be interested in what I'm doing. Truly.
All the love,
Nikki
